Cath Tate

Cath Tate is an institution in the UK card scene. I first noticed her cards in an upmarket book shop in London in the 1990’s and immediately got in touch. At that stage she was just doing the Caption Cards but now, under the guidance of her daughter Rosie, she is doing so much more with other artists coming in under her umbrella.

Cath’s cards are truly funny. They are modern and relevant and so often they capture an irony that true humour often does.

Cath Tates Story.

Led by mother-daughter duo Cath and Rosie, alongside a small team of likeminded women, we are Cath Tate Cards - your source for witty greeting cards and gifts designed to make you laugh.

For over 40 years, Cath Tate has been a prominent name in the UK greeting card market. Rewind to the 1980's, Cath sat down at her kitchen table and started creating witty photomontages fuelled by her left-wing politics. Inspired to shout about her favourite female cartoonists, Cath decided to start publishing their work on a selection of postcards - and Cath Tate Cards was born.

In 2011 Rosie joined the family business (despite the possibility of bickering with her mother) and turns out we make an incredible team. As a pair of busy, working mothers we both often write the jokes on our cards and our only real rule is that every card we publish must be either funny or beautiful - preferably both...

Giving a voice to female artists has always been at the core of our business, and we're proud to work with an ever-growing community of contemporary designers and artists to produce new cards, captions and concepts all year round.

Ethical production has and will always be a focus at Cath Tate. All our cards continue to be printed in the UK on 100% recycled paper.
