Maggie is a passionate artist and surface pattern designer. What’s that you ask? A surface pattern is a design that is either a single graphic or a repetitive pattern, to be printed on products for industries in apparel, home decorations, paper goods, craft and more.

Born in Hong Kong, Maggie came to NZ in 1991. She studied fine art at school, followed by a scholarship for tertiary study. After many years working in the bureaucratic world of council planning, she followed her love of drawing, painting and pattern design and leapt into her dream vocation.

Since 2015 Maggie has been working on surface patterns. She creates patterns for various business, including fabric manufacturers and corporates. She begins her process by hand, using watercolour, gouache, ink or charcoal and then finalises her designs digitally so they can be used in a multitude of ways.

Live Wires have produced her first range of 8 cards, blank inside, printed with vegetable based inks on paper produced from certified and audited (WMF) Well Managed Forest plantations.
